Privacy notice.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run Holy Quiz, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time. The long version is below.
1. Who we are
“Holy Quiz” (we, us, our) refers to Holy Quiz Inc., the operator of the Holy Quiz mobile applications and the website at holyquiz.app. This notice covers all of those.
2. What we collect
Account data
When you sign up we store your name, username, email address, and (if you sign in with Google or Apple) the unique identifier that provider gives us. We never receive your provider password.
Activity data
We store the quizzes you complete, your answers, your streak, your Bible IQ, badges, saved bookmarks, comments, and reactions. This is what makes the app work for you.
Device data
We log a minimal device fingerprint — OS version, app version, anonymized crash diagnostics, and a rotating identifier — to detect abuse and fix bugs. We do not use this for advertising and do not link it across third-party services.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t collect your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or calendar.
- We don’t embed third-party advertising trackers.
- We don’t fingerprint you with browser-canvas, audio-API, or similar techniques.
3. Why we collect it
- To run your account. Sign in, sync across devices, keep your streak alive.
- To make the app better. Anonymized, aggregated stats power features like “Only 12% got this right.” Nothing in those rollups identifies you.
- To keep it safe. Crash logs and rate limits catch bugs and abuse.
- To talk to you. Critical service emails only. You opt in separately to product updates.
4. Who we share it with
Holy Quiz never sells personal data. We share with a small number of vendors, each bound by data-processing contracts:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider.
- OneSignal — push notification delivery (you can disable any time).
- PostHog — product analytics. Configured for first-party, EU-hosted, IP-masked event capture.
- Stripe — payment processing for the Sage tier, if/when you subscribe.
We will publish a complete sub-processor list at holyquiz.app/subprocessors and notify users via email of any addition at least 30 days before it takes effect.
We may also disclose data if compelled by a valid legal process. We will challenge overbroad requests and notify you unless prohibited by law.
5. How long we keep it
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate stats — which can’t be linked back to you — may be retained indefinitely.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data (use Settings → Account → Delete account, or email us).
- Port your data to another service.
- Object to specific processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, visit our data requests page. We respond within 30 days.
7. Children
Holy Quiz is intended for users 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we’ll remove the account.
8. Changes to this notice
If we make material changes we’ll notify you in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) update the “Last updated” line above without notice.
